Project #1 : Photography Workshop

December 7th, 2015 – We’re very happy to announce that the first project we were able to fund is a photography workshop for Syrian children refugees now living in Shatila’s camp in Lebanon. Imagined by Syrian Eyes of the World, the workshop was given last week at بسمة وزيتونة – Basmeh & Zeitooneh by Youssef Shoufan and Antoine Entabi with the help of Manuel Caballero.

Founder of the project

Youssef Shoufan is an independent multimedia creator born in Damascus and based in Montréal.

  • In September 2015, his passion for arts and his desire to support Syrians resulted in the creation of Art For Syria.
  • In March 2014, he founded Syrian Eyes of the World, a collaborative photography project where photographers with Syrian origins capture portraits of Syrians around the world.
  • In the summer of 2013, Youssef cofounded La maison de la Syrie, a cultural non-profit organization registered in Montreal, Canada, which hosts Art For Syria.
